Healing in Kerteh

5 – 6 March 2009
Thursday – Friday
Reverend Albert Kang’s Ministry at
Kerteh Charismatic Assembly
Kerteh, Terengganu, Malaysia

How time flies! Kerteh Charismatic Assembly received The Elijah Challenge training back in 15-17 November 2007. At that time, I was alone conducting the training. This time, I have my wife, Grace and her parents with me. My parent-in-laws, better known as Brother and Sister Ong, are also trained in The Elijah Challenge and quite experience in healing the sick.

Grace drove us in our Avanza from Kuala Lumpur and reached Kerteh in five hours. To me, Grace is an exceptional driver. However, often time, when she gets into the F-1 driving mood, my prayer life improves by a couple of notches. We thanked God for the safe journey and it was at the only MacDonald in Kerteh that Elder Ashok met us. He then led us to the church.

The church building which is actually a bungalow, has two guest rooms. After a little rest and refreshing, we were ready for the first session. The people started to arrive and Elder Eli led in a wonderful time of spiritual worship. Though there were few people but they worshiped with all their hearts. I encouraged the people with a message of what the Holy Spirit is doing today through ‘Kingdom Stewards’. This is the era where we are all called to do the works of the Lord.
At the end of the sermon, I asked to those who have been trained in Elijah Challenge to pray for the sick. An elderly lady came forth to get her eye healed. She was suffering from slight pain and irritation in her left eye. The vision in that eye was also affected. Six sisters volunteered to lay hands on this lady. One of the volunteers was Sister Alice who was healed of her arthritic fingers two years ago. As I shouted the commands, these precious sisters repeated in faith. The rest of the Christians also raised their hands in supportive prayers. After about three times, the elderly lady declared that both the pain and irritation were gone. Her vision had also improved. She was to be completely healed the following day.

Friday came early for me. After prayer and my own personal Bible study, I was ready for the Worship Service. (Offices in all Malaysian states are open from Mondays to Fridays with the exception of three states in the East Coast. Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu follow the Islamic calendar and close their offices on Fridays. As Kerteh is a town in Terengganu, churches held their worship services on Fridays).

By 9.30 AM, about thirty people gathered at the bungalow to worship God. Among the congregation were Christians from India, Philippines, South Africa and of course, Malaysia. Many of these work with Petronas, the national oil company and its auxiliaries. As usual, the worship was amazing. Being the only church in Kerteh, the Christians there know that they have to take every opportunity to gather and worship God. Brother Tong Sin led us in many beautiful worship songs. The presence of God was there and so it was easy to preach. I told the congregation that I would give them ‘meats’ and preached from Hebrews 11. Encouraging them all to not only have faith, I challenged them to allow faith to affect and change their lives.

To evangelize the neighbourhood, Kerteh Charismatic Assembly organized a barbecue that afternoon. A group of six Hananese ladies joined the rest of the congregation for the event. Since they had yet to believe in Christ, I took the opportunity to minister to them in my very limited Hainanese. They asked many interesting questions about God and Christ.

After the food, we had a worship session and I shared the message. I presented the basic gospel for the benefits of the Hainanese ladies. At the conclusion of the service, I asked the infirm to come forward. Some of these ladies came forth plus a brother from South Africa. One of the ladies then excused herself to go home and lock her door. We thought it was an excuse for her to leave the church. However, to our pleasant surprise, she rushed back for her healing. Five ladies were healed of their ailments - one was healed of shoulder pain, another from stomach ailment, the third from headache and two from painful ankles caused by gout. After the healing, we spent time to encourage them to dedicate their lives to Jesus Christ.

It was a very good two days of ministry. We also rejoice that we could spend time with Elder Ashok and his family, Elder Tan and his family, and also the other precious brothers and sisters. Even though Kerteh Charismatic Assembly is small but it is an important lighthouse in Kerteh. God has sent many people from all over the world to this little town and this church is creating a great impact in their lives. We pray that God will give them many opportunities to win many souls.

Open Air Seattle Miracles

Houston, Texas
Sunday, February 22, 2009

Dear Intercessors,

We would like to share with you what the Lord is now doing with Open Air Seattle, who trained with The Elijah Challenge last December. Tom Briggs just sent us the following exciting report:

"Open Air Seattle carpooled to the Tacoma homeless feed and clothing outreach sponsored by the Biker's Tabernacle Church, and other local churches in Tacoma. They have been doing this humanitarian outreach for several years now.

Eleven OAS evangelists and "witnessing machines" were prayed up and filled to overflowing with the Holy Ghost and fire---to heal the sick, cast out demons, and cleanse the unbelieving of unbelief and preach the Kingdom of God is near. I announced His intentions to heal the sick and oppressed just as He did in the Bible days (they are still here today, folks! There is no "amen" at the end of the Acts of the Apostles) and we sure enough now know why! I proceeded to lift my voice like a trumpet with my plastic megaphone cone (a sawed-off oil funnel) to invite the sick and infirm to come for free ministry for healing and miracles. I told them Jesus would demonstrate tonight He is risen from the dead and conquered sickness, sin, death and Hell. He would prove it by healing anyone who would come over to us for ministry. They were dumbfounded, moonstruck, paralyzed with curiosity at best, utter unbelief at worst!

No matter, a lady in a wheel chair was willing to give it a shot. Why not---no charge, and nothing to lose, right? We ministered to her torn and painful tendon and ankle from an earlier surgery and subsequent re-injury. After three commands in Jesus' name to her ankle, she was pain-free, and walked around on it. However, she was a bit dizzy from favoring her good foot too much up until now. We ministered to her for that, and she said she was improved in that too.

I announced this to the enlarging crowd, yet they stood aloof.

Next, one of the Biker Tabernacle volunteer staff men, Rick, had a short leg with an obvious limp. He wanted his leg lengthened. (We have this miracle on video tape...stay tuned!) He sat in a chair which we had dragged out to the middle of the crowd, lifted both legs supported by a cane under his calves. After about 45 seconds it grew out two inches to catch up to his normal left leg length. We erupted in praise and shouts to Jesus! But he was in shock! He felt his leg grow out! (He didn't see it because he had shut his eyes in prayer). He got up and couldn't walk straight away because he wasn't used to walking without a limp after so many years of limping. He started walking around with total amazement and wonder in his face and eyes. Later, he came back and wanted us to re-check his legs to make sure it really happened! His friend checked them and confirmed his legs were equal in length! Hence many more people took a chance out of their desperation for healing in Jesus' name. I will let the other team members write their own testimonies and forward them to you, William.

We began limited open air preaching and continued praying for various needs, not even physical! We gave money to some, Bibles to others, many Gospel tracts went into hands, and best of all, many Christians were intrigued, awakened, and wanted more of this next weekend!"

[The following added by OAS teammate Brother Toby] "But, in my opinion, what followed was the best part of this evening. Having seen and heard of God's Spirit moving, a line of people formed wanting us to pray for them that they would become more serious about God, that God would be more powerful in their lives and that they would know Him more. They were just hungry for Him!"

The entire report

Thank you for partnering with us in intercessory prayer so effectually, dear brethren. May the Lord raise up similar groups of street preachers in every city of our nation. We are ready to train them!

Yesterday we completed the Basic Training at The Elijah Challenge Training Center here in Houston. This morning (Sunday) we held an evangelistic healing service where the trained disciples could apply what they learned under actual battlefield conditions. The Lord was gracious, and infirm people testified that the Lord had touched and healed them as His disciples laid hands on them. The report plus photos can be viewed at:

Land For Refugees In Orissa

Houston, Texas
February 18, 2009

Dear Partners in the Great Commission,

We would like to share with you an update we received from our brother Pastor Subodh Jena in Orissa, India. With the funds received from you through The Elijah Challenge (and from other generous groups as well) he was able to register the land being purchased for the refugees. He was also able to visit with them. Below is his report.

"Praise God for enabling us to go for the registration work on the land at Parlakhemundi. Again we went to see the persecuted believers after one month.

Let me tell you what happened on the way to Parlakhemundi. Before we reached the town we met with a few children who were staying in a broken slum and begging by the roadside. After seeing their pathetic condition we were so sad. We talked to them. We came to know all about their situation. This is the poverty of Orissa. Those children are supposed to go to School but instead they have become beggars of Orissa.

Please pray that the fate of Orissa may change and at least the children may have a bright future.

Thank you very much for your heartfelt support for the persecuted believers. As you know the government of Orissa closed the relief camp on January 16. These persecuted believers are now staying in several Churches just like refugees. But by the grace of God and with the help of many supporters they had the land registration work done last Friday. According to the believers after February 20 they will come to this place and will start work on their homes. For shelter they are planning to stay in a tent and slowly they will be starting the work of building.

On behalf of the persecuted believers we would like to give special thanks to you and to all the supporters of Elijah Challenge. They are remembering you all in their prayers as I told them about you and your support very clearly.
Please pray that they may have enough support to build their homes.

We met with one family from a village called Mukundapur who suffered much during the Orissa persecution. While the RSS Hindu fanatics came to attack that village many Christians fled. But a brother named Chinchani was brutally attacked by them and burnt alive in front of his wife. They shot his son too and the bullet passed through his hip. We were able to meet his wife and son in the town. We prayed for them and extended some help to them.
Please pray for them in their tragic situation."

We want to thank those of you who gave for the purchase of the land for our persecuted brethren in Orissa! The report and photos can be viewed at:

Our India Training Center Director Pastor Joshua Gowda also sent us a report. He recently held the Basic Training for 25 pastors and 28 believers in Uttar Pradesh. During the demonstration of healing at the end, the Lord was gracious to heal infirm people as the servants of God laid hands on them. Click on

This Friday evening at 7 PM at our Training Center in Houston we will begin the second half of our two-weekend Basic Training.

Thank you for partnering with us so fruitfully, dear ones!

Sincerely in Christ,

William & Lucille
